Courtney Paris did very well last season. She just didnt get much of a chance. I'd take her on our team anyday over Whitmore or Black.

I also think that Ashley was the better player in college. Courtney just got all the spotlight treatment because of all those double doubles. If you look at their stats in college, Ashley was just as good pretty much. Not as many double doubles as her sister, but scored just as much and had a lot of double doubles herself.

Courtney made a wnba team over Ashley for one reason, and one reason ONLY.  Because of all the hype.  If Ashley made it on a team this past year, she would have done better, played more minutes and would have been a much bigger factor for her team than Courtney was.   The ONLY reason LA waived her in camp was because they were such a post heavy team as it was and didn't need another big on their team.   And with the 11 player rosters, no other team risked taking a chance on her.   I wish the Sun had taken her and released Black.  Black didn't improved one bit from beginning of season to the end of the season.   Ashley would have been much much better.   But you have to realize, we don't have one of the smartest GM's in the league.  Chris Seinko isn't a very good GM.   He's right up there with NY's Blazowski.  Trading away great players for nothing.   (Taj to LA for DeSouza whom they just ended up leaving unprotected in Atlanta's expansion draft).  That was the first moron move.  The second (Katie to Indiana for a broken down Tamika Whitmore, who yes, had a good year in her first season as a Sun, but that was it. A broken down has been).

If Indiana wanted Douglas bad enough and Katie wanted to go to Indiana bad enough, Seinko should have demanded Tamika Catchings for Katie.  One superstar for another.  If they said no, then if I were GM, Katie would have stayed put in Connecticut whether she liked it or not, until she was a free agent and could leave the team on her own accord.

Seinko isn't smart enough to recognize Ashley Paris's talent because if he was, she'd have been on our team last year, waiving either Whitmore or Black.  But because of his oversightedness, the Sun missed the playoffs for the first time.  We might not have if he had brought Ashley over and got rid of some deadweight.   Who knows what could have happened.

Aren't you a bit over-hyping Ashley Paris? You can call me a skeptic, but seeing what her sister did last season and knowing Courtney is the better one I just don't see her as an improvement over the likes of Black.

yeah i probably am, but since she is the more fit player and was really coming out of her shell in her senior year at OU, i really thought she would have made a roster. but would you say she would be an improvment over whitmore???

courtney didn't play terrible last year...she didnt get much time in the beginning of the season and when she did, she wasn't the force like at ou.

i agree we could take a risk on feenstra... she actually didn't play terrible while actually playing for the sky (well i thought so).  i too think that it would be nice for the paris sisters play back in oklahoma... but for the sun, i would at least try to see if ash wants to play here, cuz she is a GREAT talent who did make a team last year, which to me was shocking.

i just need to see a list of free agents to decide on who they should pick up. but if sac releases courtney and then tulsa signs both ash and court, who are they releasing??? braxton?? maybe she could then come help us out??

and i kinda agree with you canada on holt. she deserves taht she should be there, but definatly needs to come back and play great the whole season... as well as the other girls!

I would also keep Holt from reserves and actually start her instead of AJ-Z and move AJ-Z down to SG. AJ-Z is too short to play against most of the leagues SF's on offense and defense. White substitutes AJ-Z, Phillips subs Whalen, than we would need only backup SF, PF, C and preferably a young post player "in case of emergency". It's easier to redistribute minutes if one of 6 guards get injured than if 1 of 4 posts gets injured.

It would be interesting to know what are White's plans for the winter. Haven't heard of her playing anywhere here in Europe. Hope she won't come to training camp out of shape and without any real game practice.

Prince i am pretty sure played the 2 guard, but can play the one (i think) (i too don't really follow her, but i hear she is a really good guard. i think she was the one who scored like 40 on uconn a couple of years ago, if i am not mistaken)

and i agree with that bales hasn't been able to keep a spot, but she is a big body, who can rebound, and i am pretty sure can score more than what whit did this year. so maybe a training camp spot?? just thinking of options aside of appel and charles (because they are most likely not to fall off the top 2 spots). can you think of anyother bigs either in free agency or draft (not named appel or charles) that could possibly make our roster... the only other is ashley paris.

and are we in agreement that the whole bench is up for discussion on leaving???

They can replace the entire bench if they want too. This past season's Sun team was a bust besides Whalen/Jones/Gruda/White/Jekabsone.

Ashley Paris is a good player and the Sun should have taken her this year over Chante Black. But I believe Ashley will be playing in Tulsa next season along with Courtney. Sacramento will give up Courtney now that they have the 2nd draft pick (Charles or Appel).  I'd rather see the Paris sisters play together in Tulsa anyways.

Well, another 'big' that the Sun could take a chance on is Katie Feenstra.  I believe she was with Chicago at the end of this past season but they probably won't keep her once Brooke Wyckoff returns from her injury (if they take her back, which I believe they may).

The Sun had originally drafted her in the first place (Feenstra), but decided on Margo instead.  I believe that with the right coaching, Feenstra could still be a good player in the league.  Maybe she would fit in with the Sun where she couldn't really fit in anywhere else.

I like the big girls. I'd take Feenstra and try her out.

i would like some clarification(spelling??) on this: what do the sun need??? backup center??? more shooters???

as i see you guys are talking bout replacing black... but maybe we should keep her this year and use her like coach t did with tamika. and do we want to draft a big with the 3rd pick or sign someone???

i don't know.... i was just thinking i feel like we could sign a big, like Alison Bales (who i think has some real talent) and then draft a guard like Ephianny Prince (formally of Rutgers) anyone like that idea??

I think the Sun are ok in the shooting department actually.  We have Tan White who is a good shooter, Jekabsone-Zogota who is an even better shooter, Phillips can be a great shooter most of the time and we have Asjha who can post up and shooter jumpers, same with Gruda.

Alison Bales has been jumping from team to team and has never been able to stick. I'd be cautious of signing her.  Maybe she just doesn't fit in.  I'd still like it if we could land either Charles or Appel as a back up center to Gruda.  But the Sun could still keep Chante Black and have her take Whitmore's place whom I think needs to retire or be cut/traded away.

To be honest, I don't know what guard position Prince plays.  I never kept up with her.  Is she a point guard or a shooting guard?  If she's a good shooting guard, then we could draft her and replace her with the underwhelming Erin Phillips.

I thought we were looking for backup center, right? So isn't Voughn an improvement over Black? And we don't lose any guards.

So Whalen had a down year after having a MVP one. She still was miles better at PG than Brown, Phillips. Look at the typical stat for PG's - assist to turnover ratio. Lindsay is in TOP5 with 2.48 assists per every turnover, while Erin barely makes TOP25 with 1.54 and Kiesha doesn't even qualify for that stat. And in todays basketball games where most of the games at the end are one to three possession games these few assists or turnovers mater the most.

I don't want to lose Whalen. She is the leader. Yes, Vaughn is an improvement over Black but I doubt they will give her up.  Although, NY does have about the stupidest GM in the world, so who knows.  If we can't get Tina or Jayne, I'd take Kia Vaughn.  She's from Rutgers though, NY won't give her up.
